Aribba Finnegan!

Friday afternoons are reserved for Cuban dance parties here at casa de Finn. We turn on Cuban Radio on Pandora and get a little crazy. We don't blast the music too loud (overprotective mama is watching out for Finn's baby ears) so you'll need to turn the volume up high to notice that Finnegan really is jamming to the beat.

First Course

It was a big day in the Barwick house today...After months and months of patiently enduring meals of milk, Finnegan is finally expanding his palette. Much to Finn's chagrin, we're taking it slow. We started with some rice cereal, but from his reaction, I think Finnegan will be ready to move on to more complex tastes pretty quickly.

Half Birthday

Yesterday Finnegan turned six months old. Happy Half Birthday!!

Birthday

For such a young person, Finnegan sure knows how to party down on birthdays! He helped daddy choose a present, he learned new wrapping techniques, he directed daddy in baking a cake, and helped me blow out candles. Most importantly, he showed us that even if you aren't old enough to eat cake, you can still have a lot of fun digging into frosting and sprinkles. Finn also affirmed my hunch that this is going to be my best year yet.

I really want Finnegan's first solid food to be something wholesome, organic, and local. NOT BUTTER CREAM MOCHA (yes, there's a shot of espresso in there) FROSTING AND SPRINKLES!

Finn visits the mitten state

Vacationing with a little guy is a whole new experience- there's less sleeping in, but more brand new exciting things to learn and try. Like sticking ones toes in a lake for the first time. Or feeling sand. Or seeing foxes and geese. We had a great time on our little weekend getaway to Douglas, Michigan.
