A patch of pumpkins in the basement

This weekend Finnegan co-hosted a Halloween party with his friend, Myles. In truth, Myles' mom did most of the creative planning. In support of her work, Finnegan greeted people at the door, I provided the space and kept the mimosas and coffee flowing, and Myles directed traffic on the stairs. As noted by the mom of one party goer, this was an exceptionally cute group. I won't even try to describe. Just see for yourself.

Decorating!

Thrilled to be hosting

Have you ever seen a pumpkin with cuter cheeks?!?

This little guy could be  a true life train engineer.  Seriously, it wouldn't have been a costume.

I didn't capture a photo of her "pin the nose on the pumpkin" skills. She was speedy and precise.
Finn's BFF, Spidey.
Our Co-hosts. My friend and her I'll-only-pose-for-one-photo-because-I-need-to-practice-my-layups son.

Peek-a-Boo lion.

The whole group! Sans one who was being a good little guy cleaning up his things downstairs.
We considered a do-over group photo, but you know how the little ones can't be bothered.

A squash of a good time

Oh, our favorite time of year is back! And last weekend we celebrated with a trip to the pumpkin patch. Our little pumpkin frolicked around the patch looking at flowers, scarecrows, and farm animals. The petting zoo was a hit, and a first for Finn. Most popular was the cat whom Finnegan followed around the yard while saying "meow meow" in hopes that the orange furrball would understand and play with him. So what is Finn going to be for Halloween, you ask? Well, let's just say Finnegan was taking mental notes on the behavior and attitude of the feline in anticipation of dressing up on the big day...(hint hint).

surveying the options

Taking a break to sniff the flowers

I love this guy!

Helping out the scarecrows

I know I've said it before, but geez pumpkins and babies are cute together!

I'd love to know what is going through his head in this moment

Still such a tiny!

Moses the donkey

And Slingshot the pony

And goats!

But the big hit of the day was...

the cat on the garbage can.

Little scientist

Autumn couldn't be prettier this year, and Finn is LOVING the outdoors and discovering new things. We've taken to nature walks. At the end of these outings, we usually have wet sleeves, pockets full of pebbles and sticks, excitement from some close encounters with frogs and bugs, and ONE WORN OUT KID.
On days when the weather won't allow for a walk, we bring the science indoors. Inspired by middle school chemistry class, we've been experimenting with viscosity. With a little creative artistry thrown in.
