Summer is in full swing, and we've been taking advantage of the hot days and general lack of schedule. Or at least a lack of a strict and full schedule. Our days have included lots of time with our feet in streams collecting crawfish, minnows, and waterbugs. Finn has gotten really good at sensing where these critters might be hiding, and he honed his net skills though May and June.
Speaking of skills, Finn went to soccer camp for a week in June. He LOVED his coaches, the daily themes (especially "Tacky Tuesday"), and working on his power kick. I was worried the heat and intensity of going everyday might be too much, but I was proved gloriously wrong. He can't wait to return next year.
Currently, Finn is also improving his water skills in swim lessons. We try to arrive early to his lessons at the IU Outdoor Pool so we can watch the divers practice, and Finn's goal is to jump off the 10 meter diving platform (that's 3 stories tall, people). I've promised him that once he is a really strong swimmer, he can do it. At home he's working on somersaults so he can add some flips and twists on his way down.
Below are a few photos of these activities, plus some more. We hope your summer is filled with as much fun and adventure!

| I took this pic on Finn's very last day of preschool. I love these two teachers: their humor, their patience, their ability to know and love my boy so well. We hit the jackpot with them and with Finn's classmates. |

| The loot (that was returned to the water shortly after). |

Finn's theater experiences are limited, but I think we need to change that. He really enjoyed
Elephant and Piggy, We're in a Play. |
I love Bloomington for so many reasons. One being that streets are randomly closed off for obstacle courses and hoopla hooping. |
| These two. I mean, come on. |
| Bug Fest has become an annual event on our calendar. We've been coming since he was tiny. I'm not sure what came first, the larva or the egg, but Finn has become -hands down- the most passionate bug enthusiast I know. |
| Sweet little butterfly (who lectured me on the ride home about planting milkweed to help the monarchs). I'm serious. |
| Cockroach races. This is where I draw the line on even faking supportive enthusiasm. |
I recently bought a new bird feeder. By spending a little more, I got free shipping, so I threw in this little window feeder on a whim. It is the best purchase of the summer. |
| Finn and his coaches, Riley and Cameron. Not pictured is Kylie, but you can see her here. |
On Father's Day, Clark cooked. And fed us lobster as we kept him company in the kitchen. I'm not sure how Finn and I got so lucky. |

| And Father's Day love. |
| Finn and I went strawberry picking again this year. It was a blast, but I'm wondering at what age does he actually put the berries in the collection boxes and NOT in his mouth? |
| Balancing strawberries with a post picking ice-cream. |
| One big home project this summer is painting our house. Finn benefits with a stock of several shades of gray samples. |
| A favorite activity: babysitting our neighbor's pup when they are out of town. |
| Clark and I escaped to Vermont for a few days to celebrate our anniversary and to restock Finn's UVM gear after he's outgrown the old stuff. |

I’m with you on where you drew the line :) Looks like it’s been a fun summer so far!
